FAQs about the Marble Caves Tour

There are no direct roads connecting Puerto Natales to Puerto Río Tranquilo. You would need to fly from Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales back to Puerto Montt/Balmaceda, or take the Navimag ferry through the fjords.

Yes, there are buses. Puerto Río Tranquilo is approximately 4 hours by bus via the Carretera Austral. During peak season, transport is frequent; in low season, we recommend renting a vehicle. Please note that our marble caves tour includes local transportation from our office to the lake, but not the intercity transfer from Coyhaique.

Yes, it is highly recommended. In the morning, you won't hear boat engines, "the sanctuary priority will be ours," the lake is calmer, and sunlight hits the marble directly, making the formations stand out beautifully.

Safety first. If the port is closed due to wind (usually above 6 m/s), the activity is suspended. We offer rescheduling or a full refund. For horseback riding, wind and rain usually don't cancel the tour.

For kayaking, we depend on port authority authorization. If the port is closed, the tour is cancelled. Rain or wind typically doesn't stop our horseback tours, unless it is a torrential storm.

This is Patagonia. Over the last 5 years, rainfall has averaged 2500 mm annually, so rain is normal. It’s not always cold, but we recommend dressing in layers; while summer is pleasant, winter temperatures can drop several degrees below zero.

No. None of our tours include meals. We recommend having breakfast or lunch beforehand, and it is always good to bring a backpack with extra layers and water.

Confirmed at the time of booking. For kayaking, the meeting point is always our office, and from there, we provide transport for all passengers.

Yes. To secure your spot, we require a deposit. This allows you to book a specific time. In January and February, we recommend booking as early as possible.

Yes, cash is accepted and preferred by the company. Payment methods will be confirmed at the time of booking via WhatsApp or phone.

Yes, we offer two signature Patagonia adventure packages to make the most of your visit to Puerto Rio Tranquilo:

  • 2-Hour Horseback Riding + Marble Caves Kayak: $80,000 CLP per person.

  • 4-Hour Horseback Riding + Marble Caves Kayak: $95,000 CLP per person. The 4-hour combo is highly recommended if you want to reach the highest panoramic viewpoints over Lake General Carrera. These packages are designed to provide a full day of immersion in the Aysen Region at a preferred rate.

Exploradores Valley: Cascada de la Nutria and Exploradores Glacier. Also, Cerro Castillo (day treks), Cascada del Maqui, and the confluence of the Neff and Baker rivers.

For the Catedrales de Mármol kayak experience, the minimum age is 12 years old. This is to ensure that participants have the physical strength and height required for the safety gear and the 2-hour paddling duration. For younger children, we recommend our boat tours to the Marble Caves.

We offer guided tours in both Spanish and English. This ensures our international guests can fully enjoy the interpretation of native flora and the rich history of the gaucho traditions in the Aysen Region.

We recommend the layering system: a base technical layer, a fleece, and a windbreaker. It is essential to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes (trekking boots) and comfortable long pants. Don't forget sunblock and sunglasses.
